About the author
At the age of 17, Suzanna had her first article published in the Framingham TAB and The MetroWest Daily News (formerly named Middlesex News). This experience ignited her passion to advocate on behalf of the “underdog” and eventually led to several freelance articles published in the Boston Metro newspaper.
Through her diverse teaching experiences, Suzanna has seen education through a myriad of lenses. She wrote about what she learned as an urban elementary school teacher in an article published in Teaching Pre K-8 Magazine.
Writing was put on the back-burner during her marriage; however, post-divorce, Suzanna has found her way back to the pen. She now writes in the voice of a single mother. Her piece on moms seeking re-entry into the workforce after childbirth was published in Boston Parents Paper. Suzanna has been a Guest Author, and has had her essays appear in: The Boston Globe Magazine, BLUNTmoms, Worcester Magazine and Her View From Home.
After three years of freelance writing for the Framingham TAB newspaper, Suzanna took heed of a reader’s recommendation to turn her work into a book. A Year on Route 30: One Mom’s Collection of Essays is Suzanna’s first book. It is a compilation of her work from the first year of writing her column.
Suzanna's second book, Awakening the Blank Canvas: A Collection of Essays Continues, was released in February 2016.
To catch up on the past ten years of her bi-weekly column, visit the Bulletin & TAB (formerly the Framingham TAB) website at: www.wickedlocal.com/framingham. *UPDATE* In July 2021, several weekly Wicked Local papers closed shop, the Bulletin & TAB included. The paper no longer archives columns written prior to a certain date; therefore, the majority of the links to the stories in the ‘In The Community’ tab on this site will re-direct you to the parent paper, The MetroWest Daily News. If you’d like to read a column whose link is no longer archived, please email me directly at the address found on my Contact page and I will email you the requested column.
